Activity-based Recovery Therapy Interventions

Locomotor Training

Locomotor Training is a rehabilitation strategy that allows individuals with certain kinds of spinal cord injuries to repetitively practice standing and stepping using body weight support and a treadmill with manual facilitation from therapists and technicians.

NeuroMuscular Electrical Stimulation

NeuroMuscular Electrical Stimulation provides activation below the level of spinal cord injury to retrain movement through sensory input and external stimulation.

Guided Exercise

Guided Exercise interventions include an hour-long exercise session focused on the neuromuscular system below the level of injury or affected by paralysis.

Basic Gym

Basic Gym membership allows members full access to the specialized adaptive equipment at Community Fitness & Wellness during business hours.

Respiratory Training Device

With over 15 years of research focused on pulmonary and cardiovascular function after spinal cord injury, it has been shown that respiratory training can improve the function of both the heart and the lungs in people with spinal cord injury.
