In 2014, Kosair for Kids invested in a vision to provide the best care for spinal cord injuries, conduct cutting-edge research to guide our therapies, and to train the next generation of therapists, physicians, and researchers in a recovery-based program. With a $7.3 million investment, the University of Louisville’s Kosair for Kids Center for Pediatric Neurorecovery was established for children with spinal cord injuries like Luke.
At the Kosair for Kids Center for Pediatric NeuroRecovery, we are able to use new knowledge regarding how the spinal cord works. Through extensive research, our recovery-based therapies promote movement below the level of injury. Our main focus is on retraining the nervous system at every stage of recovery so kids can get back to the business of moving.
The University of Louisville and Kosair for Kids have been working together improving the lives of children in the community, as well as fulfilling the needs of long-term quality medical care.
