Predictors of Volitional Motor Recovery with Epidural Stimulation in Individuals with Chronic Spinal Cord Injury

BRAIN a journal of neurology

As published in BRAIN – a Journal of Neurology

This study reports volitional motor outcomes in 20 individuals with clinically diagnosed motor complete spinal cord injury who underwent implantation of a spinal cord epidural stimulation unit. All participants were able to move at least one joint voluntarily in the presence of epidural stimulation. The extent of voluntary outcomes correlated with the percentage coverage of the lumbosacral enlargement by the electrode array.
