Dr. Boakye has built his extensive experience with clinical management of spinal cord injury and variety of noninvasive electrophysiological
techniques to study spinal cord injury including functional magnetic resonance imaging, motor and sensory evoked potentials, transcranial magnetic and epidural stimulation for spinal cord injury recovery. His spinal cord injury research and brain injury research centers on understanding the physiology and plasticity of the sensorimotor system in health and in patients with spinal cord and brain injury. Dr. Boakye ultimately hopes to use that knowledge to develop new surrogate markers of recovery, new methods of injury prognosis, and new therapies for spinal cord and brain injury.
