The focus of Dr. Ovechkin’s work is the development of respiratory and cardiovascular rehabilitative strategies. In 2015, he began to oversee the continued development of physiologically based methods to evaluate the impact of epidural stimulation on cardiovascular and respiratory functions. More recently, his interests have expanded to investigating different stimulation approaches for improvement in respiratory motor control. Dr. Ovechkin’s clinical and scientific background relates to the development and implementation of physiologically-based methods to evaluate motor and autonomic regulation for use in clinical research and practice for participants with spinal cord injury with a focus on pulmonary and cardiovascular function.
